Regret

I originally wrote this poem in the early 1990s. When I re-read the poem a few years back, I wasn't happy with how it had turned out. I wrote this version of the poem on September 21, 2009, and it encourages the reader not to dwell on regrets.

You can live your life just living with regret
And spend your time trying to forget
But don't get so caught up in the here and now
That you find yourself with more regrets

You'll find that your regrets never go away
Don't linger on them and make them stay
Any longer than they would have anyway
Just live your life and enjoy the days
