Silent Cry

This started out as a poem I wrote in the late 1980s/early 1990s. When I re-read the poem a few years back, I wasn't happy with how it had turned out. I re-wrote the poem on October 12, 2009, and the narrator of this poem is telling about a young woman who is feeling suicidal.

She goes to bed every night
Crying silent tears to herself
Feeling as if her life isn't right
But she doesn't know where to turn

And she thinks her life is a mess
Everything is falling apart
And to her, everything seems hopeless
She wants to bring it to an end

And one morning she was found dead
A bottle of pills at her side
I wish she was still alive instead
But no one heard her silent cry
