Woman Of Words

This is a poem I wrote on April 12, 2010. It's a poem I wrote in memory of the woman who was the "resident poet" at my church for many years after I learned about her passing away.


I got the news today
That the woman of words had passed away
The words that were needed, she always had
Whether the occasion was happy or sad


And the time will march on
Someone must carry on now that she's gone
And she has left us with some shoes to fill
I'll try my best, so we can have the words still
