This is a poem I wrote on June 29, 2009. It's a poem from the point of view of someone who has learned that a celebrity has died.
Headlines blare across the internet
That someone famous is now dead
I don't want to believe it, yet
I know it's all true in the end
It makes me feel shocked and surprised
I wish it was all just a dream
The news just leaves me mesmerized
I can't take my eyes off the screen
And yet I know that life will go on
And that the sun will rise and set
I'll always hear him in the songs
And I know I'll never forget
