This is a poem I wrote on August 31, 2009, and it's obvious from the title of the poem that it's about kids going to the first day of school.
Summer vacation has come and gone
And now it's time to focus upon
Going back to school for another year
And that time is coming near
With your hair and clothes, you make a fuss
As you get ready to catch the bus
Eat breakfast until you can eat no more
And then you head out the door
You go to school and join the masses
And you work hard to find your classes
And you know that by the end of the day
You'll want to go your own way
