What We Want/What We Need

This is a poem I wrote in the early 1990s. It's about trying to balance what it is we want with what it is that we need.


There's so much temptation
In this world
There's so much desire
We don't need to be told
I think we already know
But we've got to press the point home


We've all wanted something
In our life
It's not something we need
I don't mean to sound trite
But others must live with strife
During every day of their life
