What Should I Do?

This is a poem I wrote on October 12, 2009. It's written from the point of view of a speaker who feels they have been backed into a corner.

You ask me to go on a journey
But I'm not sure that I want to go
As I look deeper into what you want to do
I come to the conclusion that it's not for me

You're caught off-guard by my refusal
And you get annoyed and frustrated
Then you say I don't have a choice, it's required
By forcing me to come, it's like a betrayal

So now I'm standing at a crossroads
And I have no idea what to do
It would be so easy to turn and walk away
In spite of it all, I really don't want to go
