I originally wrote this as lyrics in the early 1990s. I re-worked the lyrics as a poem on May 25, 2009, and it's about knowing that your relationship is real.
I've heard it said over and over
That if something is too good to be true
Then it probably is
But I don't think that's the case with you
I try to ignore the naysayers
Who keep insisting that our love won't last
And that you've made mistakes
But mistakes you've made are in the past
They don't know what they're talking about
Because I know that our love is real
They just don't understand
That our love is the real deal
