This is a poem I wrote on April 11, 2011, and it's written from the point of view of a speaker who has learned that things were not as they seemed with someone that they know, even though they thought they knew this person.
I never thought I'd be so blindsided
Or rocked by things that I learn
This just seemed to come out of left field
And I just don't know how to deal
Things weren't as they seemed on the surface
The truth lay hidden below
Now that the façade is starting to break
I can see how much was truly fake
