This is a poem I wrote on December 29, 2008. It's a poem from the point of view of a speaker who is looking forward to the beginning of a new year.
As we say goodbye to the old year
We look ahead to the one that's next
We hope for new beginnings
And promises for a brighter future
We have to take the bad with the good, of course
But we hope for the best
For this new year that is about to unfold
