This is a poem I wrote on December 6, 2010, and I wrote it after learning that a loved one was not expected to live much longer.
This news just hit me out of the blue
And I don't want to believe that it's true
Even though I knew this time would come
I find myself trying hard to be numb
I wish somehow that this news is wrong
I don't want to believe you'll soon be gone
And all I can do is wait
For the news that you've reached Heaven's gates
