From Out of Nowhere

This is a poem I wrote on March 1, 2010. It's about being taken aback by unexpected news.


The news seemed to come from out of nowhere
As it was the last thing I expected to hear
It feels like the wind's been knocked out of me
And I wonder how this could be


Now I must decide what I have to do
In the wake of hearing this unexpected news
Now there are difficult decisions to make
I don't know how long this will take
