This is a poem I wrote in the early 1990s as song lyrics, but somewhere along the line, I changed it from being lyrics to a poem by stripping the lyrics down to what had originally been the two verses. It's a call to action to help others who are in need, and it also has an environmental message about doing what we can to take care of our planet.
There's so many people in need
Of a place to call home
Instead of helping them
We just leave them alone
There's got to be something
We can do
A change can be made
But it's all up to you
Believe me, it's true
Earth is becoming endangered
Through pollution
So make a resolution
And a promise
To find a solution
I feel deep inside
We're going by the wayside
Change this fate
Before it's too late
