This started out as lyrics my sister and I wrote in the mid-1980s, and I used the title when I wrote a poem in the 1990s. When I re-read the poem a few years back, I wasn't happy with how it had turned out. I wrote this version of the poem on April 13, 2009, and it's about not giving up hope when things seem hopeless.
When it seems
That nothing is going right
And you feel as if
You should give up the fight
Don't forget
That hope is working for you
When you think
That this is it
And you believe
That it's time to quit
