This started out as lyrics that I wrote for a Jem fanfiction story back in the late 1990s. I re-worked the lyrics into a poem on July 13, 2009, and it's about how people miss opportunities when they are living their lives.
We found ourselves in turmoil and strife
As we went through this thing called life
We fought so much, and failed to see
That we were creating a missed opportunity
Sadly, our time came to an abrupt end
When my road came up to a bend
It was only then that I could see
Our time together was a missed opportunity
