Nothing Lasts Forever

This started out as lyrics I wrote in the early 1990s. I re-worked the lyrics into a poem on August 3, 2009, and it's about how, on the surface, nothing seems to last forever.

It's said that nothing lasts forever
And that everything is fleeting
But I don't believe that it was an accident
That you and I ended up meeting

Our time together may have been brief
And our friendship went up in flames
But if you hadn't put me through these trials
I wouldn't be who I am today

It's said that nothing lasts forever
I don't think that's completely true
It's the things you can't see that last forever
Like the life lessons I learned from you
