Danger

This is a poem I originally wrote around 1990, back when I was in high school. When I re-read the poem a few years ago, I wasn't happy with how it turned out. I re-wrote the poem on January 19, 2009, and it's about wondering if people should always think about the potential dangers that can happen.

We're told to watch out
Because there can be danger
Lurking around every corner
But should we live our lives
With such constant fear?
Should we live our lives
Constantly looking for danger
That is real or simply imaginary?
Or is it worth the risk
To simply forget about the danger
And to do what we feel like
Without thinking of the consequences
Of our actions?
